Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see a "Vote for Favorite" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!

I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita

An Indian Wedding, The Wiebner Way - Day 2

M+S Indian Wedding - Day 2! Friday evening of June 12th, we went back to S' parent's house for an evening of dancing, performing and dinner. The Sangeet was a "show" let's say for the bride and groom. Many of S' relatives danced - some of both M and S' friends sang and did skits. There isn't a lot to describe from this night, the photos say it all! We did have a little bit of time when we got there to do some quick portraits with M and S, but the rest of the evening was just capturing the night's festivities.
Love this shot of S in the backyard. Again, her dress and jewelry were beautiful! |

I watched her put the bangles on the morning of the ceremony - it takes awhile to get them all on!

S' beautiful henna tattoos.

The sun was working with us. :)

M was very colorful that night as well. I am just flabbergasted at all of the intricate details in the attire.

S showing off her henna before the festivities started.

These four were funny - some of S' friends from California, they acted out "newlywed" skits.

M and S thought it was hilarious!

After dinner everyone got up on the stage and started dancing!

And finally M and S getting down. That's it for Day 2!

An Indian Wedding, The Wiebner Way - Day 1

I am so thrilled to be posting this! We have finally done something out of our norm for weddings. An Indian wedding! And not just the wedding - it was a 3 day event. I have broken the 3 days down into 3 different posts. There was just so much that happened over these 3 days we couldn't justify squeezing it all into one post. I am going to talk about each day's events in as much detail as I can remember. Also, our couple wishes to keep their names private, so they will be referred to in the posts as "M+S". Now on to the fun!
As this is something we have never photographed before, we didn't know what to expect. Luckily, our bride, S, was very understanding. She hired us for what she saw in our work, not whether we had experience with this certain type of event. I love it when someone can see the potential of what we can do. Put us in any situation and we can photograph it. You will see that is proven over these 3 days! Anyway, since S lives in California, we actually didn't meet her until the first day of the event. This was another first for us! We did however have a LONG phone conversation a few days before the wedding about all of the events and traditions her family would participate in. She was also really detail oriented, which was a big help, and sent us a daily itinerary of everything with explanations and so forth. She was a gem!
The first evening of the event, Thursday, June 11th, we were scheduled to be at her parent's house in Abington, PA for about 3 hours to shoot. There were several different traditions that evening - Chunni, Mehndi and Bhaat. It was just so fascinating to both Joel and myself to witness these events. Chunni was a formal ceremony where the groom's family presented gifts to the bride, and then in turn, the bride's family presented gifts to the groom. A few other traditions were performed with this as well. Mehndi, was the ceremony where the Henna hand and feet decorations were applied. Many of the women guests had this applied to their hands, but S had both of her hands and feet decorated. What intricate work! S told us that it takes a few hours for it to dry, and she was basically stuck on the sofa until it was finished and dry. Poor S! She didn't seem to mind though. Since Mehndi took a few hours, one other ceremony went on while S was occupied with the Mehndi. Bhaat was a ceremony performed by S' mother, where she welcomed her family to the house. Her oldest brother came in first and was presented with food and gifts. The rest of her siblings followed. After Bhaat, a short skit was performed to entertain S while she was having her Henna applied. Her cousins were the performers and everyone was laughing at the different antics they were performing. It was a crowd pleaser!
Shortly after the main skits were completed, it was time for Joel and I to leave. As we were walking out the door we grabbed one last shot that was fun. You can see it at the end. :) It was time to go home and rest up for Friday!
Here is our bride, S, conversing with one of her elder family members. Most of S' family flew in from India for the wedding. M's family was mostly from Canada - regardless, there was a LOT of guests that traveled far! |

A simple portrait of S to show off the beautiful gown she wore. She told me that after her and M were engaged, they flew to India and ordered all of their clothes for the wedding. They were all made custom in India!

S' jewelry was gorgeous for each event. The details are just beautiful!

S' father waiting for M and his family to arrive.

This one is for Joel - one of the traditional foods that were fed to the guests and each other - he loved it! We were fed it several times over the course of the events. It is pista barfi - a pistachio Indian sweet treat, covered in edible silver foil, or varakh. Delicious!

One of the guests having her Henna applied.

Look at those delicious looking treats!

M+S await the start of Chunni.

This is what the Henna looks like when first applied, as it dries, the black starts to peel or rub off, and the henna "tattoo" is what remains on the skin.

Family members singing during Chunni.

M enjoying some of the food.

S' henna starts its application process.

Can you believe they do this freehand?

S' mother and one of her brothers during the Bhaat ceremony.

Some of S' relatives performing the skits. They were acting out various traits of the relatives, so that M could guess who the family member was. It was a way for him to get more familiar with S' family. It was pretty funny!

Everyone was really enjoying the skits. :)

And out the door we go. There were so many shoes on the front porch it was hard not to trip over them! :)

Trish and Kurt - A Grand Party at the Yorktowne

Trish and Kurt were married May 30th in York County. Some event details to start:
Ceremony: Bethlehem UM Church, Codorus, PA
Reception: Yorktowne Hotel, York, PA
Florist:Karen Grove
Bakery:Providence Bakery, York, PA
Band:Renaissance Orchestra
Stylist & Coordinator:Michael Alan
Trish was so absolutely excited for us to be there! I love it when our couples love us. :) We love them too. After we arrived at her parent's house and photographed the girls preparing for the day, it was off to the church for the ceremony. We stopped on the way to the Yorktowne at the "town square" in Jefferson, PA - which was very quaint, for some wedding party shots. The excitement was building as we arrived at the Yorktowne and spent some time with Kurt and Trish. We ended up in the ballroom at the end of their portrait time, and it looked gorgeous! We haven't been to the Yorktowne for a few years, and they changed things around a bit. There is so much light in there now! We were excited for the reception to start. Trish had a lot of snazzy details at the reception - I totally loved her cake!
The reception was a party to remember, with the dance floor packed all night. Just the way we like it. ;)
The girls were all helping Trish in her dress, there were so many hands helping, it was quite comical!
|

Outside, the girls were all laughing at Joel. He's quite funny sometimes.

We found this corner in Trish' parent's house and worked the window light. It was soft and clean.

And Trish on the sofa, looking most elegant.

When we arrived at the church, the groomsmen were having some flower issues. :)

Starting to get emotional...

In Jefferson the wind was having its way with Trish' veil. Everyone was very helpful though in making it go where it was supposed to.

At the Yorktowne, the wind was STILL having some fun with Trish.

The hotel is very historic, and I was digging this area at the bottom of a staircase.

This one is gorgeous and sexy. Fit the feel of the hotel. Joel rocked this one. Give him a pat on the back next time ya see him. :)

Do u see those windows in that ballroom? The light was just intense.
